Sharron Szablak is a licensed acupuncturist who has lived in San Diego since the late 1970’s and considers herself a native. Her professional career in healthcare started as a Medical Assistant directly out of High School. This education allowed her to work in prestigious places such as UCSD Medical Center and Sharp Coronado Hospital. She spent 25 years of her career assisting surgeons in minor office procedures under sterile technique, taking sole responsibility with surgery scheduling and insurance billing, and many other duties, all the while working collaboratively with surgeons, primary care physicians, physical medicine doctors, nurses, case managers, patients, and their families. During this time, she advanced her education by obtaining an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy. The experience of working in the critical care setting made her turn to alternative medicine. This environment is now how Sharron envisioned helping patients. Subsequently she used Acupuncture to help with her own fertility journey. When her daughter turned one, she returned to school to further advance her education and obtained a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health Sciences in 2019.

Since becoming a licensed Acupuncturist, Sharron has worked for another established practice, Source. This is a community style environment with the option for upgrading to a private setting. It is a fast-paced clinic, where patients are booked every 10 minutes. She often sees 4-6 patients an hour, averaging 45-55 patients in 3 days. As an Acupuncturist, Sharron does additional modalities such as cupping, massage, moxibustion, hot and cold therapies, electrostimulation, cosmetic acupuncture, MicroNeedling, lifestyle and diet advice, and herbal medicine.

In May 2023, Sharron began the transitional Doctoral Program at her alma mater, Pacific College. This online program is a perfect fit for her busy life, and she anticipates graduation in December 2023. In her spare time, Sharron is mom to a very active 10-year-old daughter. They love all the things to do in San Diego. From the Zoo to the beaches and mountains and everything in between. Favorite hobbies of Sharron’s include gardening, cooking, camping, and swimming.

Steven Murray is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine and practices Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) through acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

He started his career in the medical field in 2004 where he went through emergency medical training studying to be a Paramedic through the fire academy at Palomar College. In 2012 he realized that emergency medicine was not where his passion was and switched to preventative medicine graduating with an Associates in Applied Sciences as well as a Bachelor’s in Health Science. He maintained a pain management space where he would work with competitive athletes dealing with injury prevention and recovery while attaining his Master’s in Acupuncture and eventually graduating with a Doctorate in 2018.

He has been in private practice as a Doctor of Acupuncture since 2018 where he specializes in pain management and general family health as well as working at UCSD Health as a Primary Care Physician and Pain Specialist.

During his doctoral studies he completed an internship with Palomar Emergency Department where he got to explore how acupuncture and complementary medicine fit into a western emergency medical model. Dr. Murray has explored many applications of CAM through various internships and volunteer opportunities where he has been able to participate in the recovery process of post operative procedures with pediatrics at Rady’s Children’s Hospital as well as see the benefits of auricular acupuncture on PTSD patients at a local veterans clinic. He has been working in the field of alternative care since 2012 and has dedicated the better half of the last 10 years to teaching people how to heal themselves using natural methods such as yoga, massage, movement therapies, lifestyle modifications, acupuncture and herbal medicine. He is currently exploring the application of Dr. Yoshito Mukaino’s Motion Induced Somatic-Response Testing mixed with Manual Lymphatic Drainage on various injuries and ailments.

In his free time, he likes to garden and prides himself on becoming an urban farmer with his husband and two dogs. He one day hopes to have a garden big enough to supply his family with their nutritional needs as well as grow his own herbs for Chinese Herbal prescriptions.
